Tilly the Tiger Who Couldn’t Roar
Finding Strength Without a Loud Roar
Tilly the Tiger was the tiniest cub in her jungle. All the other tiger cubs could roar loud and proud. But Tilly? She only squeaked.
She tried in the morning: Raa… squeak! She tried in the pond: Raa… meep
The other cubs laughed. You sound like a kitten, Tilly
Tilly felt sad. She didn’t want to sound like a kitten. She wanted a bold, brave roar.
One afternoon, while exploring alone, Tilly heard tiny cries. A baby bird had fallen from its nest!
She knew she needed help. She looked around—no one was nearby. She climbed a big rock, filled her chest with all the courage she had, and shouted:
“ROOOAAARRR!
It wasn’t the loudest, but it echoed across the trees. The tiger elders came running. They rescued the baby bird and patted Tilly with pride.
That was a brave roar, said Mama Tiger. It came from your heart.
Tilly beamed. From that day on, she didn’t care how big her roar was. She knew she was brave enough.
